Nutrition App and Responsive Website
Problem & Project Goal
The problem:
Kids lack nutritional information making healthy choice more difficult
to make.
The project goal:
Provide nutrition information to kids in an engaging way, which will
help them make better nutritional choices and improve the overall
long-term health.
User Research
During the research I found that kids would eat nutritious foods if they tasted good and were quick and easy to prepare.
There was a knowledge gap in terms of the benefits and how to prepare healthy and tasty foods.
Initial Design Concepts
Sketched a few ideas based on the competitive audit
on how to make the nutrition content engaging.
Wireframes
Users wanted and needed an engaging way to learn about nutrition.
This is the initial prototype user flow before the usability study.
Usability Study Findings
Users confused on how to print content and recipes
Users were confused by Get Recipe button, which opened another screen. The functionality was simplified using icons.
Users wanted search functionality
Users wanted the ability to search for recipes which was not included in the original design.
Users wanted the ability to save their favorite recipes
Added a feature to save a particular recipe, which can be viewed on the top right below the settings icon.
Conclusion
Lessons Learned:
Brand consistency importance when creating for different devices and screens sizes. End-user usability takes precedence and should always be at the forefront of any designs.
Next Steps:
- Conduct another round of usability studies
- Add search functionality to responsive websites
- Add feature which allows user to compete on the games
